A few words about the artist ...
Patrick Édène has been an artist, author, composer, singer and actor for 30 years.
He has had a passion for poetry since childhood, but he has only been writing for 3 years with the aim of publishing books. Before that, he edited 9 song albums, sang in concerts in Île-de-France and directed the film of his musical: Le Grand Destin, which obtained 15 selections, nominations and awards at international festivals in 2017.
He also created a method of teaching variety singing: "A true way for his true voice". His first books are Confessions Poétiques, Messages d'un poète, Fleurs de vers and Fables et Fantaisies d'Édène pour les enfants.

Several poems in this book received 2 poetry prizes in 2019 at the Béarn Floral Games and at the 21st international literature competition of the Regards association.
"I started the competitions in 2019, for a year, but I won't do any more, why? Because the prizes given are often subject to the so-called official genres for which many competitions impose their rules which are also different between them while boasting of being those who hold the poetic truth; this often to the detriment of the relevance, intelligence and subtlety of the content of the poems. In art, in my opinion, there is only one law, that of the unique and authentic expression of the artist! There are therefore as many poems as there are poets.
I write, of course, close to classical and neoclassical genres that are too restrictive for my taste, in order to create in my own way, a beautiful setting which helps to shine the richness of its content which is the essence of the poetic work. It is above all for the readers, not for the judges of a competition, to like or not the prosody and the subject of a poem, because it is to them that it is primarily addressed and it is they who have the first freedom to like or not what they read, not because it obeys imposed rules, but because they have been moved, conquered, amazed or amused or not by what they have read. What is more, in these competitions, the number of people forming the jury presents only a tiny percentage of the readers to whom the poet who competes, nevertheless leaves the right to say that his poetry is or is not worthy of receiving a good quality recognition award. In addition, 90% of the participating authors are not awarded and do not receive any opinion from the jury despite having paid a participation fee; no encouragement, no reaction to their writings. It is close to contempt. Since I do not write exactly like the classical and neoclassical genres, my poems are excluded from these categories; moreover, too far from the so-called free category, they are often not respected as such and cannot have a prize despite having paid my participation. All this verified with competitions!
The only 2 genres to compete should be: rhymed verses and rhymed verses!
